Full-time Lived Experience Recovery Manager

£27,000 to £31,000 per annum (dependent upon skills, qualifications and experience)
Hours:
37.5 hours per week. Flexibility is required, including occasional evenings and weekends.

About Creative Start
Creative Start Arts in Health CIC is an award winning grassroots Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO) that uses creativity, community and lived experience to support people affected by drug and alcohol addiction. We provide safe, recovery focused environments where people can grow in confidence, improve their wellbeing and build fulfilling lives.
Purpose of the Role
The Lived Experience Recovery Manager will provide operational leadership for all recovery support delivered by Creative Start. This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing our lived experience workforce, peer support staff and volunteers while ensuring every person accessing our services receives high quality, compassionate and recovery focused support.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Lead, manage and support all lived experience staff, peer support workers and volunteers; provide regular supervision and performance management; develop a positive team culture.
- Recovery Support: Provide high quality practical and emotional support for individuals affected by addiction, including recovery planning, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and assistance with benefits, housing, and healthcare.
- Recovery Meetings: Facilitate and oversee approximately seven recovery meetings each week using the Creative Start Recovery Method.
- Volunteer and Staff Development: Recruit, induct, train and mentor lived experience volunteers.
- Safeguarding and Risk Management: Recognise and report safeguarding concerns; manage risks associated with substance misuse, mental health, and complex needs.
- Partnership Working: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with statutory drug and alcohol services, other recovery services, NHS services, local authorities, housing providers, probation services, Jobcentre Plus, social care, criminal justice agencies and voluntary sector organisations.
- Recovery Support Line: Manage the Recovery Support Line, providing crisis support and signposting.
- Administration: Maintain accurate confidential records (case notes, risk assessments, incident reports) and ensure GDPR compliance.
- Professional Responsibilities: Represent the organisation as a positive role model and advocate for recovery.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Personal lived experience of drug and/or alcohol addiction.
- Sustained long-term abstinence-based recovery.
- Significant experience supporting people affected by addiction.
- Experience managing staff, volunteers or peer support workers.
- Experience facilitating recovery meetings or mutual aid groups.
- Excellent knowledge of recovery principles, safeguarding, risk assessment, and trauma informed practice.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Desirable:
- Level 3 or above qualification in counselling, coaching, or mentoring.
- Safeguarding or Mental Health First Aid qualifications.
- 10+ years of sustained abstinence based recovery.
- Experience in the voluntary/community sector.
