At Blackgull, we're more than just a coffee shop.

We're part of a local community with a mission to demonstrate that recovery really is possible.

Every cup of coffee you buy, every meal you eat, every event you attend, supports creative recovery initiatives that uplift our communities, creates opportunities and empowers individuals to transform their lives.

By choosing Blackgull, you're not just enjoying a hot brew and great food; you're contributing to real change in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

About Us

The 'Black Gull Community Venue' located in the heart of Grimsby Docks is a pioneering, first of its kind sober venue in the area.

We offer a wide range of activities, including a coffee shop, sober events, creative workshops, recovery meetings, and much more.

Our goal is to normalise sobriety and break down the stigma associated with addiction and recovery and to support people on their recovery journey, whether that’s making a decision to change or looking at the next steps in life.

The
Great Escape building where the Blackgull Community venue is based, having been restored by the recovery community, stands as inspiration for what can be achieved by those who choose sober living.

Regular events scheduled are varied across music, performance and the arts.

The recovery community leads on organising, promoting and hosting the events which are fully open to the public.

Additionally, we actively assist community-focused people and projects by offering flexible spaces for meetings, workshops, or performances to help them come to fruition.
