Art of Recovery Workshops

Art is a great way to successfully clear a busy mind. It provides a structure and a work ethic that may not be found from other activities.

'We have found for some, art and creative activities are the only way of successfully clearing the mind from the fog of addiction'.

Pursuing different creative activities gives the lives of our members more structure and a work ethic that may not be found from other activities.

Art builds self-esteem and gives our members a sense of achievement using a behaviour that is not damaging and has a positive effect on society.

Our 'Art of Recovery' Workshops are designed to aid and support members whose lives are affected by addictive behaviour and to introduce art as a tool to help with this issue.

This can be provided in the form of group therapy or one to one when required. If we feel that other help is required we are in direct contact with appropriate services in the area. Our priority is for the care and support of our members at all times.

Our workshops provide a relaxed non-judgemental environment where members can talk openly about issues regarding addiction;

  • They aim to bring more structure, stability and serenity into people's lives.
  • They focus on building members self-esteem and well-being through art and creativity.

All workshops are provided by experienced volunteers, artists and mentors that understand how to communicate effectively with people in recovery and addiction specialists (who have been addicts themselves and/or helped others beat addiction) who can provide counselling for both members and their affected others.

Art from the workshops is exhibited in our Walk-in Gallery on Abbey Walk to rebuild confidence and self-esteem, thus aiding recovery and bringing art to the community.
